Washington County Bicycle Transportation Coalition: The mission of the WashCo BTC is to promote bicycle transportation, protect bicyclists' rights and improve bicycling conditions throughout Washington County, Oregon through education, advocacy and community.

Washington, DC - September 24, 2009 – The League of American Bicyclists is proud to announce Frans Pauwels Memorial Community Bike Center is named as a Silver Level Bicycle Friendly Business and is one of the 45 new BFB award winners. This is the third time BFB winners have been announced since the program's inception in 2008 when the League announced the first 13 designees. “We’re delighted to highlight the Community Bike Center and the ways in which they are getting more people on bikes,” stated League President Andy Clark. “In today’s challenging economic climate, businesses with healthy, happy and productive employees are going to be the most competitive and the most sustainable – the Bicycle Friendly Business program recognizes some of the best examples of this in practice.” Read More.
Partnering with Hillsboro Park & Recreation District to provide bicycle skills training in their after school program to elementary school kids at 5 schools this winter and spring.
The WashCo BTC is now the fiscal sponsor of Troop 721 of Aloha. Through this relationship, we hope to help any boy who wishes to work toward a merit badge in bicycling or any of the leadership programs through the BSA as they apply to bicycle education.
Eight Community Vision clients, one from Adelente Mujeres and 12 foster children had a Happy Holiday with a new (or nearly new) bike as a result of the program. We want to than the individuals and organizations who helped make it possible. Each bike was equipped with enough accessories to make any ride safe and comfortable.
